In 1998, Chabad Academy became known as

The Butterfly School . . .

Over 1.2 million paper butterflies were displayed on
April 23, 1998 to commemorate the more than
1.2 million children who perished in The Holocaust.

The project received worldwide attention.
Butterflies "flew" in from every state in the nation,
as well as several other countries.

Chabad Academy  is a thriving educational environment that connects the Jewish community of Myrtle Beach.  Chabad has served thousands of people over its twenty-two years of existence.

Children from first thru ninth grades are steeped in their Jewish values as well as a complete secular education that exceeds South Carolina's basic requirements.  Creative writing, drama, technology, physical education, Hebrew, art, career development, and chorus round out a comprehensive standards-aligned curriculum.  Cultural field trips and special out-of-state trips to complement childrens' education are organized throughout the year.  Children are taught in a very nurturing environment with a low student/teacher ratio of 7:1.

Chabad students enjoy the advantages of personalized instruction within a loving, Jewish environment.  School activities, festivals, and holiday celebrations make Chabad the hub of community life here.

"I am proud to be attending Chabad Academy because it shows who I am.  I think I am lucky to be here."
